Web browsers store temporary data from the websites you visit to ease the need for “re-downloading” the same web content the next time you visit the same page - making the page load faster.
However, since these temporary data take up storage from your devices, if not cleared, it may cause issues in your browsing experience.
Most of these issues can be resolved by simply clearing your browser’s cache and cookies. Here are the steps you can follow depending on the device or browser you are using:
Google Chrome
- Mac and Windows
- On your computer, open Chrome .
- At the top right, click More (), then select Clear browsing data from the options.
- Select a time range, like Last hour or All time.
- Select the types of information you want to remove.
- Click Clear data.
- iPhone or iPad
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app .
- Tap More (), then select Clear Browsing Data from the options.
- Select the types of information you want to remove.
- Tap Clear Browsing Data.
- At the top right, tap Done.
- Android Tablet or Phone
- On your Android device, open Chrome .
- Tap More (), then select Clear browsing data from the options.
- To delete browsing history (including open tabs), select a duration and then tap Clear data. The default duration is 15 minutes.
- To choose more specific types of data you want to delete, tap More options. Select the types of browsing data you want to delete and then tap Clear data.
Safari
- iMac or MacBook
- In the Safari app () on your Mac, choose History > Clear History, then click the pop-up menu.
- Choose how far back you want your browsing history cleared.
- Press Clear History.
- iPhone or iPad
- Go to Settings(), then select Safari.
- Tap Clear History and Website Data.
- Select your desired Clear Time Frame
- Tap on Clear History.
Firefox
- (Windows and Mac)
- Click the menu button () to open the menu panel.
- Click History and select Clear Recent History….
- Select your desired Time range to clear from the drop-down menu
- Choose Cache in the items list, make sure other items you want to keep are not selected, and then click the Clear Now button.
