Screen Recording Guide:
How to record the screen on your iMac/Macbook:
Using your screenshot toolbar
- To view the Screenshot toolbar, press these three keys together: Shift, Command, and 5.
- You will see onscreen controls for recording the entire screen, recording a selected portion of the screen, or capturing a still image of your screen.
- To start recording, click the Record button
.
- To stop recording, click the Stop button
in the menu bar, or press Command-Control-Esc (Escape).
Using QuickTime Player
- Open QuickTime Player from your Applications folder, then choose File > New Screen Recording from the menu bar.
- You will see onscreen controls for recording the entire screen, recording a selected portion of the screen, or capturing a still image of your screen.
- To start recording, click the Record button
.
- To stop recording, click the Stop button
in the menu bar, or press Command-Control-Esc (Escape).
How to record the screen on your Windows PC/Laptop:
Screen-recording using Windows 11 and Windows 10 PC/Laptop
- Press the Windows logo key, Alt and R to start recording a clip.
- Click on the “Stop” button
on the menu to stop the recording.
How to record the screen on your iOS device (iPhone, iPad etc.):
- Go to Settings > Control Center, then tap the Add button
next to Screen Recording.
- Open Control Center on your iPhone, or on your iPad by swiping down from the top-right corner of your screen.
- Tap the gray Record button
(gray record icon), then wait for the three-second countown.
- Exit Control Center to record your screen by swiping up from the bottom of the screen or tapping the screen.
- To stop recording, open Control Center, then tap the Record button
(red record icon). Or tap the red status bar at the top of your screen and tap Stop.
How to record the screen on your Android device:
- Swipe down from the top of your screen.
- Tap Screen record
.
- You might need to swipe right to find it.
- If it's not there, tap Edit
and drag Screen record
to your Quick Settings.
- Choose what you want to record and tap Start. The recording begins after the countdown.
- You can choose whether to record audio and show touches on the screen before you start.
- To stop recording, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the Screen recorder notification

How to capture your whole screen:
- To take a screenshot, press and hold these three keys together: Shift, Command, and 3.
- If you see a thumbnail in the corner of your screen, click it to edit the screenshot.
How to capture a portion of the screen
- Press and hold these three keys together: Shift, Command, and 4.
- Drag the crosshaircrosshair
to select the area of the screen to capture.
- To move the selection, press and hold the Space bar while dragging.
- To cancel taking the screenshot, press the Esc (Escape) key.
- To take the screenshot, release your mouse or trackpad button.
Taking screenshots using your Windows PC/Laptop:
- Select the Start
button, enter snipping tool, and then select Snipping Tool from the results.
- In Snipping Tool, select Mode. In earlier versions of Windows, select the arrow next to the New button.
- Next, when you choose the kind of snip you want, you’ll see the whole screen change slightly to gray.
- Then, choosing from anything currently displayed on the screen, select the area of your screen that you want to capture.
- After you capture a snip, select the Save Snip button.
- In the Save As box, type a file name, location, and type, and then select Save.

Press the side button and the volume up button at the same time.
- Quickly release both buttons.
- After you take a screenshot, a thumbnail temporarily appears in the lower-left corner of your screen. Tap the thumbnail to open it or swipe left to dismiss it.
How to take a screenshot on iPhone models with Touch ID and side button
- Press the side button and the Home button at the same time.
- Quickly release both buttons.
- After you take a screenshot, a thumbnail temporarily appears in the lower-left corner of your screen. Tap the thumbnail to open it or swipe left to dismiss it.
How to take a screenshot on iPhone/iPad models with Touch ID and top button
- Press the top button and the Home button at the same time.
- Quickly release both buttons.
- After you take a screenshot, a thumbnail temporarily appears in the lower-left corner of your screen. Tap the thumbnail to open it or swipe left to dismiss it.
Taking screenshots using your Android device:
- Open the screen that you want to capture.
- Depending on your phone:
- Press the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time.
- If that doesn’t work, press and hold the Power button for a few seconds. Then tap Screenshot.
- If neither of these work, go to your phone manufacturer’s support site for help.
- At the bottom left, you’ll find a preview of your screenshot. On some phones, at the top of the screen, you'll find Screenshot capture
